Two settings decide which cars reach you and how your bids compete: the ZIP codes you buy in, and the times you can pick cars up. A new account is asked for both in its first setup, and you can change them any time on Your profile.
Your ZIP codes
In Where you buy, start from your home ZIP code and a radius of up to 150 miles, then click ZIP codes on the map to add or remove them, or take one out of the list under the map, and save. You can choose up to 1,000 ZIP codes. Every car listed in those ZIP codes shows up on your Cars for sale page, apart from any you said you don’t want on your Pricing page, and once you have prices of your own and a card on file, your prices make an instant bid on it. A car listed before you added its ZIP code doesn’t get an instant bid, but you can still bid on it by hand.
If you take a ZIP code out of your area, any bid you have standing on a car there that is still for sale is withdrawn.
Other buyers can cover the same ZIP codes as you. Nobody owns an area here, and the seller decides which bid to take. That is why the time you can come and the amount you bid both matter.
Your pickup times
First you choose how much notice you need: the same day, the next day or two days. Your bids say your first open time after that notice. With the same day, that is your first open time at least two hours away. With the next day, it is your first open time from tomorrow on, and with two days, your first open time from the day after tomorrow on. If you never choose, we use the next day. As you choose, the page shows the time your bid would say if a car were listed right now.
Then, in Pickup times, you add each time slot your trucks can come in, and the days of the week it runs. A slot starts and ends on the hour, between 5 AM and 11 PM, and can be anything from one hour to twelve, so two-hour slots are fine. You can start from a ready-made week, such as weekdays from 8 AM to 5 PM, and change it from there. Two slots on the same day can’t overlap. The times are on the clock where the car is, which we work out from its ZIP code. Only add times you can keep.
Right under them, you say how many cars you can pick up in one time slot. Count your trucks, and how many cars each can get to in one of your slots. Once that many pickups are booked in one of your time slots, sellers can’t book that slot, and your bids move to your next open time. The rest of that day stays open.
Under Days you’re closed, tick the holidays you close for, such as Thanksgiving or Christmas Day, and they are closed every year, so you only set them once. You can add any other day off too, like a vacation or a day your truck is in the shop. On a closed day sellers can’t book you, and your bids show your next open time.
When you can get to one car sooner than your notice, you can pick an earlier open time on that car by hand. If your pickup time is almost over, with less than an hour of it left, and the seller has not picked a bid, we move your bid to your first open time after your notice from then.
When a seller picks you, they book your bid’s time or a later time you have open, up to a week ahead, never on a day you’re closed, and never in a time slot that’s already full. Until you set your pickup times, you count as open from 8 AM to 8 PM every day, in four three-hour slots, so set them to times you can keep.
Your hours
The days and times you are open, under Business hours on Your profile, show on your page on BeaterBoss. They don’t change which times a seller can book. Your pickup times do that.
