A seller lists a car on BeaterBoss with the year, make and model, whether it runs, the title and their ZIP code, and they can tell us how soon they need it gone. They can also add photos, the mileage and the VIN. If the car is in one of your ZIP codes, it shows up on your Cars for sale page, unless it is a kind of car you said you don’t want on your Pricing page. If you have set prices of your own, your bid goes in on it straight away, so you don’t have to be at your desk for that first bid to go in. Prices are optional, though. If you would rather look at each car before you bid, you can leave them empty and place every bid by hand. Either way, you are live once you have chosen where you buy and added a card, and Your profile tells you when you are.

What the seller sees
The seller gets their own board with any photos they added and every bid on their car. Each bid shows the buyer’s name and logo, the amount and the earliest time the buyer can pick the car up. When the seller opens a bid, they also see the buyer’s town, any photos the buyer added of their tow truck and yard, and, once a buyer has bought cars here, how many. You add those photos on Your profile. A photo that shows a phone number, an email or a web address can’t go up, so take each one where none of those show. The biggest bid sits in a big card at the top. Once there are two or more bids, the soonest pickup gets a band under it, and the list marks bids Top, Fastest and Best of both, as High Score, Speed Run and the Combo explains. The seller can take any bid on their board.
What you see
Before a seller picks anyone, you see the car, the seller’s answers and photos, and the ZIP code the car is in. You also see where your bid stands in High Score and in Speed Run, but never another buyer’s amount. If you want to move up, you can raise your bid or name an earlier pickup time from the car’s page. Once you have a bid on the car, the seller can message you about it, and we let you know when they do. You can reply on the car’s page. The seller writes first, so a seller with a lot of bids doesn’t get a message from every buyer, and you can’t message a seller before they write to you. A seller can also send you a photo in a message, like the VIN plate if you ask to see it. Buyers can’t send photos in messages.
When a seller picks you
The car moves to your Won cars page and the seller books a pickup time. You now see the seller’s first name and town. You can message them, and call them through our number from 8 AM to 9 PM their time. You can also text your driver a job page. The seller’s phone number, email and street address never appear on your screens, and your driver’s page shows the address on the day of the pickup and the day after.
What it costs
Signing up is free and there is no monthly fee. When you pick the car up you pay the seller your bid, and that payment is between you and the seller. Our fee is on top of your bid, so the seller always gets the full amount. It is charged to your card once the car is marked picked up, or a few days after the pickup date if nobody reports a problem.
