Bids and winning cars

When a seller passes on your bid

A seller can pass on one buyer's bid. That buyer is told, and they can't bid on that car again.

A seller can pass on any bid that is still standing on their board. When they pass on yours, we send you an alert, and the car leaves your Cars for sale page. No other buyer is told, and every other bid stays on the seller’s board.

You’re off that car

Once a seller passes on your bid, you can’t bid on that car again, raise the bid you placed or keep it going. If you open the car from the alert, its page says the seller passed on your bid. The conversation about that car closes too, so neither of you can send another message.

Only that car

A pass is about one car. Your bids on every other car stay just as they were, and you can still bid on new cars as they come in.

Sellers don’t give a reason

The seller doesn’t tell us why, so neither can we. The best way to stay in the running is to bid strong from the start and name the earliest pickup time you can keep, because the seller sees both.
